CALA 2016 Award Winner Announced

CALA, the Capital Area Library Assistants, have announced that Ms. Lisa Warner, Library Assistant at the East Greenbush Community Library, is the winner of their 3rd annual CALA Outstanding Service Award.

Nominees for the award must be individuals who have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to service to their library, the library community and the library profession. The successful nominee transcends the normal definitions of excellence, going above and beyond the parameters of their job description to demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation and problem solving. It is intended to recognize the importance of support staff in the library profession while keeping with CALA’s goal To enhance a professional image of library support staff within the library community.

In their letters of support for her nomination, Lisa’s colleagues cited the diligence and care with which she accomplishes her tasks and her willingness to go above and beyond the regular workday to finish her assigned duties in a timely manner. The letters also cited the work she has done in her community, both for our profession (at NYLA’s Library Advocacy Day), for the American Cancer Society and especially her work raising awareness for traumatic brain injuries. In addition, the letters of nomination characterized Lisa as someone with a positive attitude who has been an inspiration to colleagues and patrons alike, always willing to help others learn and grow.

CDLC would like to thank Lisa; her achievements embody the ideals of CALA and her service to our community stands as a model for the profession. To learn more about CALA, please visit their page here
