Capital Area Library Assistants - CALA

About CALA   In 1989, Capital Area Library Assistants (CALA) was formed as an Interest Group of the Capital District Library Council (CDLC).  CALA focuses on issues that face library support staff and represents those working in academic, public, school or special libraries in non-librarian positions.

CALA's Goals   CALA’s goals are to enhance communication and interaction between library staff, to distribute information on other organizations specifically designed to benefit library support staff and to facilitate professional development of library support staff.

CALA Membership    Membership in CALA is free.  Contact one of the CALA Coordinating Committee Members listed below for information on joining CALA.  You will receive information about CALA events, workshops, and other activities.  New members are always welcome!

Upcoming Workshops  CALA will be hosting their next Lunch n’ Learn on Monday, June 18 from 12-2pm. Follow the link for details and to register for “iPads & Their Roles in Libraries"

CALA's Philanthropic Activity    CALA is committed to giving back to the community.  We partner each of our workshops with a coordinating philanthropic activity. CALA members have donated to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, To Life!, Camp Under the Woods, the American Heart Association, the Albany Damien Center and and Literacy New York, Greater Capital Region.
