CDLC - ILLiad Point-2-Point Project Information

The CDLC/ILLiad Point-2-Point ILL project has been developed to provide a single point of registration for non-ILLiad/Worldcat Resource Sharing CDLC member libraries interested in submitting their interlibrary loan ( ILL) requests electronically to participating ILLiad based libraries through ILLiad’s web interface.

This is not a public request interface and can be used ONLY by the Interlibrary Loan departments of registered CDLC libraries. Eligible CDLC libraries have been pre-registered and assigned logons and passwords. If you need your User Name and Password or have questions about the project please contact Marie Noonan at CDLC.

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

  1. There is a limited number of participating lenders – see the list at http://www.cdlc.org/Resource_Sharing/ill/illILLiadPoint2Point.shtml
  2. To use the Illiad system for requests from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute or University at Albany go directly to their websites and follow their instructions.
  3. Be sure that the library owns the material that you are requesting and that it circulates.  You can verify this by using CaDiLaC Online; the library’s Public Access Catalog (http://www.cdlc.org/Useful_Links/opacs.shtml) ; or WorldCat.org.
  4. Borrowers must abide by due dates and any conditions set by the lending library.  Loans are always subject to recall, though this is rare.
  5. From your login, you can view your requests for status and request renewal (see instructions below - must be done before stated due date).
  6. Recordkeeping is your responsibility.  You may want to print out requests and keep a file with dates requested, received, returned, etc. noted on the request.
  7. You can request from only one library at a time.  If the response is negative, you then have to create a new request for another library.
  8. It is good manners to ‘spread the load’ of your requests among the owning libraries.
  9. Your library is responsible for the item from the time it leaves the lender until the time it is received back at the lender.  All follow-up is your responsibility – renewal requests, delivery problems, overdues, bills, etc.
  10. Contact information for CDLC member library ILL departments is in the CDLC ILL Directory.

REQUESTING A RENEWAL THROUGH YOUR ILLIAD ACCOUNT:

  1. Select the appropriate lending library and log on to your ILLiad account.
  2. Select “View Shipped Items” from the left hand navigation menu.  Click on the transaction number of the item you wish to renew.
  3. This opens the Transaction Information for that item.  Select “Renew Request” to request a renewal from the lending library.
  4. Check the record over the next few days.  If approved, the new due date will appear on the record.
