Interlibrary Loan Distinguished Service Award
COMMITTEE ON RESOURCE SHARING (CORS) INTERLIBRARY LOAN DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
DESCRIPTION OF THE AWARD: The CDLC-CORS Interlibrary Loan Distinguished Service Award is an annual award that honors an interlibrary loan staff member or an interlibrary loan team for outstanding achievement, leadership, or contributions to interlibrary loan and document delivery through participation in local networks, and/or excellence in practice in individual libraries. Teams are defined as a group of individuals from a single institution or multiple institutions working together toward an interlibrary loan goal as described in Eligibility and Criteria. The award consists of a certificate, a one-year personal membership to CDLC and registration for a CDLC program of the award winner’s choice.
ELIGIBILITY: Candidates or team members must be from the Capital District Library Council's service area, which includes Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington counties. He, she or they must have been employed in a library and held some responsibility for the library’s ILL, document delivery, or resource sharing services during the period from January to December of the previous calendar year in which the award is made. Members of the Selection Committee are not eligible to receive the award during the calendar year in which they serve.CRITERIA: Potential award winners should be active in shaping the organizational, social and technological transition within the interlibrary loan network, including collaboration or partnerships with other libraries. Individual candidates or team achievement may be noteworthy in one or more of the following ways:
- Introducing, developing, and/or participating in an innovative Interlibrary Loan/Resource Sharing/Document Delivery initiative.
- Showing an exceptional commitment to providing accessible, timely services to individual library’s patrons and/or the local library network.
- Demonstrating excellence in promotion of Interlibrary Loan to the community of users.
- Publication of significant literature.
- Attendance and contributions to local and system wide meetings.
- Participation in professional associations.
NOMINATION PROCESS: The chair of CORS, in consultation with the Committee, will nominate a Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will provide the description of the award and the nomination form to CDLC. CDLC will publicize the award in ReCap, the CDLC website, by courier and by e-mail. CDLC will send out a reminder via e-mail and request a return of nominations anually. Nominations may be made by any library staff member working in the CDLC service area. The Selection Committee will choose the winner before the April CORS meeting. The winner will be notified by the Chair of CORS after the April meeting. The award will be presented by the Chair of CORS at the CDLC annual meeting. Announcement of the winner will be sent to NYLA, the Times-Union and other local newspapers, ReCap and placed on the CDLC website.
