What is CaDiLaC Online?
CaDiLaC Online is a Virtual Online Regional Catalog of CDLC's participating member library Z39.50 catalogs. Please be aware that in our testing of the system we have determined the minimum level of hardware required for acceptable response time is: 200MHz pentium-type computer with 32MB RAM, and a T-1 connection to the Internet. In order to get the maximum benefit from this system, we recommend: 300MHz pentium-type computer with 64MB RAM, and a T-1 connection to the Internet. Note that response time will be slow when using a lesser configuration. What do the error messages mean?
Catalog returned error:- The Z39.50 server returned an error to us. Reasons why may vary widely.
- Suggestion: Please contact Jean Sheviak at CDLC.
- There is no entry for this catalog in our configuration.
- Suggestion: Please contact Jean Sheviak at CDLC.
- For some reason, the Z39.50 server just "hung up" on us, leaving us listening to an internet equivalent of a dial tone.
- Suggestion: Please try the search again.
- We were unable to connect and have the Initial dialog with the server within a certain time (30 secs.).
- Suggestion: Please try the search again or change the search strategy to only include the library that timed-out.
- Usually means there is no program running on the server to accept connections on that port. In other words, we either have the wrong port configured, or the server is not running, or the IP is wrong.
- Suggestion: Please contact Jean Sheviak at CDLC.
- The server connected, search terms were sent, but we did not get search results before the timeout was exceeded (5 secs.).
- Suggestion: Please try the search again or change the search strategy to only include the library that timed-out.
- Suggestion: Please contact Jean Sheviak at CDLC.
